Snow Totals

One of the many things that made the 2022-2023 ski season so memorable was the impressive snowfall! This year, the snow total dwarfed last year's total. In fact, we saw the second highest total that Crested Butte has seen since before 2012. 71 wonderful days of snow brought the seasonal total to 314 inches! Each day of this year's storms dropped up to 18 inches of snow. It was a fabulous season for snow sports.

Even the spring skiing was fantastic! Late season storms brought stellar snow that kept the season sweet through to the end.

Season Highlights

Alley Loop

Alley Loop is a unique annual cross-country ski event that takes skiers through the heart of downtown Crested Butte. Participants crossed snowy streets, alleys, and bridges, taking in the beauty of the town in full winter white and engaging with "alley parties" along the way. You never know what you'll encounter as you ski. Costumes get hilariously outrageous! This year was the 36th Alley Loop and, as always, it was a huge hit. Don't miss it next February! Ski Town Breakdown: Unplugged series

Ski Town Breakdown was a new event series that took place throughout March. Once a week, skiers were invited to take a break between laps to enjoy live local music, free swag, and more at various locations around the slopes. This year, music was provided by Coal Creek Connection, Viking Sound Machine, Tyler Hansen Band, and Luna Shade. We can't wait to see how this event evolves next year! Al Johnson Memorial Telemark Race

The 49th Annual Al Johnson Memorial Uphill Downhill Telemark Race took place in March. Racers climb 660 vertical feet, and then descend 1,200-feet through Crested Butte's infamous Extreme Terrain. Prizes were awarded for winning the race and for wearing the best costume. It was a blast!
