Get in the winter holiday spirit with a ski trip to the Butte. Crested Butte, that is. From hundreds of Santa's skiing down the mountain to a torchlight parade and fireworks. Crested Butte is the epitome of a winter wonderland over the holidays.
The 6th Annual Santa Ski and Crawl takes place Saturday, December 15th at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Around 2 p.m. the event is hoping to break a world record for the most skiing Santas! It doesn't matter if Santa skis, snowboards or snowblades, all Santas are welcome to attend. The event is open to all ages and is free to participate in. The only requirement is a Santa suit and either a season pass or a lift ticket for the day. Discounted Santa lift tickets are also available at the Crested Butte Rental Center (located in the middle level of the Treasury Center. There is a group ski that meets at 3 p.m. from the Umbrella Bar at the top of the Painter Boy lift. The pub crawl starts at Butte 66 after the ski.

Other fun holiday events include the Torchlight parade and Santa's sleigh ride on Monday, December 24th. From 5:15 to 6 p.m., watch Santa come down the mountain in a sleigh that is pulled by a snowcat. Then after Santa makes his appearance, stay to watch the Crested Butte Ski and Ride School perform the famous torchlight parade down the frontside of the mountain around 5:30 p.m. Pictures with Santa will be available immediately following the torchlight parade inside the Spellbound Pizza area next to Butte 66.
