When you think of horseback riding, it may not strike you as a great winter activity. This couldn’t be further from the truth! No matter the season, experiencing Crested Butte by horseback is a memorable and enjoyable choice for an excursion.
Fantasy Ranch is an excellent riding stable located in Crested Butte. They operate out of different locations throughout the year, depending on the season. This winter, rides will leave from Almont Resort, which is approximately 20 minute south of Crested Butte. Rides are offered Monday through Friday, and last from 1 PM until 3 PM, with a stop in the middle to warm up with some hot cocoa by a fire.
Winter horseback rides are so exciting! You’ll be able to experience the enchantment of the winter landscape up close, and you might even encounter some unique wildlife, such as elk, mule deer, big horn sheep, or bald eagles.
